Former KLA commander resists Russian peacemakers
BELGRADE, May 24 (Itar-Tass) - Former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) regional unit Ramush Haredinaj resisted an attempt of Russian peacemakers to detain him for illegally carrying armaments 50 kilometers away from Pristina on Tuesday, a KFOR representative has said.
Servicemen of the KFOR Russian contingent found a pistol and a tommy-gun in a car that they stopped for inspection. The former commander was slightly hurt in an escape attempt. He was given medical aid in Malisevo and a helicopter to go to the KFOR general staff in Pristina. Haredinaj was set free after an interrogation.
