Russia concerned over situation in Kosovo
MOSCOW, March 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov told Tass on Tuesday that "Russia's initiative at the U.N. Security Council on sending a SC mission to Kosovo was the result of its concern over the actions of international institutions, which are to put into effect Resolution No.1244."
Commenting on the suggestion, made by the Russian delegation at the U.N. Security Council on Monday, Ivanov stressed that Resolution No.1244 on Kosovo was being put into effect only partially. "We suggested that representatives of the Security Council go to Kosovo and see by themselves what is going on there. The situation in Kosovo is developing rapidly in the negative direction, and this may lead to the worsening of the situation not only in that area, but also in the southern part of Serbia and in the Balkan Peninsula in general," he said.
