Russia Kvashnin to attend Nato session of general staff heads

BRUSSELS, March 16 (Itar-Tass) - The head of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, Alexander Kvashnin, has been invited to participate in a NATO session at a level of general staff heads, an informed NATO official told a briefing, commenting on moves to thaw Russia-NATO relations clogged by NATO aggression in Yugoslavia.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that a sitting of the Russia-NATO Council on Wednesday had a very busy agenda.

It was the first sitting of the Russia-NATO Council after the Moscow visit of NATO Secretary-General George Robertson a month ago. The Russia-NATO Council resumed its activity last July but for only one question of interaction in peacemaking in Bosnia and Kosovo.

The official stressed that NATO and Russia are getting back to the good old times, referring to the period between the signing of the Russia-NATO Founding Act in May 1997 and the beginning of NATO's aggression against Yugoslavia.
