Three injured as French armored car runs over mine
MOSTAR, Jun 13, 2000 -- (AFP) Three French soldiers were slightly injured Monday when their armored car ran over a mine in south-east Bosnia, the NATO stabilization force (SFOR) said in a statement.
The mine could have been laid recently by Croats rather than dating back to the 1992-1995 war. Such mine explosions are frequent in Bosnia in areas where the community is seeking to discourage the return of refugees from other ethnic groups, the statement said.
The three injured were taken to hospital at a military base in Sarajevo.
The mine exploded as the vehicle was patrolling near Gacko, on a busy road which leads to a camp for returning Muslim refugees.
