Police arrest student activists

May 30, 2000 -- (RFE/RL) A spokesman for the Otpor (Resistance) student movement said in Belgrade on 29 May that police arrested four activists in Nis and eight in Subotica in the early hours of the morning.

The spokesman added that "Otpor is now the regime's primary target because it is so widespread, it's everywhere in Serbia," AP reported.

He added that "with every new arrested student activist, a hundred more join Otpor."
