BELGRADE - One man was killed and a woman injured Monday in two attacks in southern Serbia near the border with Kosovo, Beta news agency reported.

Qemal Mustafi, 53, a school principal and an official of the Socialist party of Yugoslavia’s President Slobodan Milosevic, was killed early Monday in a village near the town Bujanovac, an investigative judge told the agency. Mustafi was shot during an ambush on a road between two villages mostly populated with ethnic Albanians, the agency said.

In another attack, 75-year-old Blagica Trajkovic was injured when a hand grenade was thrown on a house belonging to a Serb family, the agency said, adding that investigators had no information about possible attackers.
