Russian defence minister will visit YU this month

MOSCOW, December 21 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Defence Minister, Marshal Igor Sergeyev will visit Yugoslavia from December 23-24, Itar-Tass was told at the Russian Defence Ministry.

Planned for December 23 is Sergeyev's visit to Belgrade. He will meet President Slobodan Milosevic there and also the republic's top-ranking military leaders.

Sergeyev will visit Kosovo on December 24, where he is expected to meet Russian peace-makers. He will hold a working meeting on the same day with German Defence Minister Rudolf Scharping. Problems linked with the peace-making operation in Kosovo will be discussed in the course of Sergeyev's meeting with KFOR Commander, General Klaus Reinhardt.

Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Russian Defence Ministry Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov told Itar-Tass on Tuesday that Sergeyev would discuss with the KFOR Commander and German Defence Minister the dislocation of units of the Russian military contingent in Kosovo in the Kosovo town of Orahovac. Kosovo Albanians have prevented the Russian peace-makers from entering that town for several past months.
