UN officers pulled over two speeding cars, including one belonging to Agim Ceku, the supreme commander of the UN-approved Kosovo Protection Corps, in southern Kosovo, spokesman Bruce Lloy said.
The arrest led to a confrontation between the UN police officers, Ceku and his bodyguard, who took out his weapon and threatened the UN officers, Lloy said.
"After documentation was checked, the cars went on their way," Lloy added.
Ceku is the former chief of the rebel Kosovo Liberation Army, which was disarmed and transformed into a civilian protection corps in September.
